FAQ

Am I eligible?

An eligible applicant for a Taglit-Birthright Israel: Hillel trip with the Bronfman Center is: between the ages of 18 and 26, self-identified as Jewish with at least one Jewish parent, and a currently enrolled student at NYU or one of the other schools that the Bronfman Center serve (Cooper Union, New School, FIT).

How many spots are there? What are my chances of being accepted?

The number of spots available vary from trip to trip, and there is always a long waitlist. That said, the application process for all Taglit-Birthright Israel trips are very competitive; because it's difficult to "play the odds", your best bet is to apply for the trip provider which suits you the most.

What is Taglit-Birthright Israel?

Taglit-Birthright Israel provides the gift of first time, peer group, educational trips to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26.Taglit-Birthright Israel's founders created this program to send thousands of young Jewish adults from all over the world to Israel as a gift in order to diminish the growing division between Israel and Jewish communities around the world; to strengthen the sense of solidarity among world Jewry; and to strengthen participants' personal Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish people.

How much does it cost?

The trip is free! Okay, what does that mean, right? The flight, the accomodations, the activities, and two meals a day--all covered. You would be responsible to pay for about one meal a day, and of course for any shopping or souvenirs. We also highly encourage trip participants to bring some money that goes towards tips as well as snacks for the bus.

But yes, the trip is pretty much completely free!
