Blog Post : Classic Hillel! By Talia Kuhel

Classic Hillel! By Talia Kuhel | erica.frankel | Nov 5, 2013

This past Sunday afternoon I joined a rogue group of NYU students in Hillel’s 2nd annual basketball tournament (I’m assuming this is going to get annual!) that brought guys and gals together for some serious fitness. As a player myself, I can safely say that the air of competition in the room was as palpable as the scent of Kosher Bravo pizza. Teams laced up from all walks of NYU life, from frat bros, vegans/vegetarians to professional pianists (shout out to my teammates Lana and Katie!) Hillel board members zipped around the room laying down the rules, but when there eyes darted off the court the games felt a lot like street ball. I witnessed near slam dunks, ponytails falling out and a series of wild hook shots People were playing their hearts out for the sake of fun and the possibility of winning some swanky gift cards. At the end of the day, my team, like many others, won some and lost some. But I can definitely say that everyone left the court pumped with endorphins, sporting a fresh jersey and feeling more connected to our community, which in my eyes, to be as corny as possible, makes us all straight up winners.
