INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

Organization Summary:

Founded in 2002, Rabbis for Human Rights – North America (RHR-NA) is an organization of rabbis from all streams of Judaism who act on the Jewish imperative to respect and protect the human rights of all people. Grounded in Torah and our Jewish historical experience and guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we advocate for human rights in Israel and North America. We are proud to partner with Rabbis for Human Rights-Israel in our efforts to protect the human rights of Jews, Palestinians, and all others living in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. In our North American work, we are proud to partner with a range of Jewish, interfaith, and secular organizations that share our commitment to human rights.

Rabbis for Human Rights-North America is in a tremendous moment of growth. In the past year, we have grown our budget 30%, and have brought on a new Executive Director. The Development Intern will gain valuable experience in expanding the budget and capacity of a growing organization.

General Position Summary:

Responsibilities include researching new sources of funding, analyzing donor records, and managing donor records. The intern will have the opportunity to take part in donor meetings and board meetings, to learn skills for donor cultivation, and to gain valuable experience in development in a small non-profit.

Reports Directly to:

The Development Intern will be supervised by the Executive Director, and will also work closely with the Director of Operations.

Time Commitment:

Eight hours per week minimum. Length of internship and hours are flexible. Spring and summer internships are available.

Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship opportunity for college credit (if applicable).

Qualifications:

- Passion about the mission of Rabbis for Human Rights-North America.
- Interest in a career in development or non-profit management.
- Extremely strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and to work in a fast-paced office.
- Ability and willingness to take leadership, to manage up, and to look for new and creative ways of working.
- Experience in financial management and database management preferred.
- Strong computer skills and a proven ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Excellent written and oral communications abilities.
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.

Location:

Position is based in Rabbis for Human Rights-North America’s Midtown Manhattan office.
