Breishit and Vegetarianism
Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Bronfman Center, 3rd Floor

The beginning of the Torah cycle is filled with fantastical, exciting and rich stories! Adam and Eve, Noah and the Flood, Cain and Abel, Abraham, the (almost) sacrifice of Isaac. WOAH BAM POW KAZAM! The book of Breishit is also the source for what some believe to be the core vegetarian tradition and guideline for the jewish people. As we munch on colorful, healthy deliciousness, we will examine the first first stories of the Torah as it relates to living a Vegetarian lifestyle. What is the connection between Judaism and a animal free/ plant based existence? How does God expect us to treat animals and is the contemporary Jewish community meeting those expectations? Isn't eating meat the uber-Jewish thing to do (not really...)? LETS TALK ABOUT IT ALL (brought to you by the folks of Yovel)
