Learn more about NYU Hillel!

  • What is NYU Hillel?

NYU Hillel is the hub for Jewish student life at NYU. We offer a wide variety of Jewish programming for students, including weekly Shabbat services and dinners, High Holiday and year-round Jewish holiday services and programs, Jewish learning classes, Birthright trips, and more. We also support 8+ Jewish student clubs.

  • What's at the Bronfman Center?

The Bronfman Center is the Jewish home for all students on campus that houses NYU Hillel. It is a 5-story building that has prayer space, community lounges, study rooms, and meeting space.

  • Can I come to all events at NYU Hillel?

NYU Hillel events are open to all undergraduate and graduate students at NYU. All NYU students, regardless of identity, are welcome. We also serve Jewish students from various downtown colleges who are seeking more robust campus Jewish life. If you’re a prospective student or student from a different university and want to see what NYU Hillel offers, please email us at hillel@nyu.edu.

  • What’s the best place to study in the Bronfman Center?

While most of our floors are open for whatever students want to use them for, there is a study lounge/low-sensory space on the third floor, a student lounge for more lively studying and socializing on the third floor, and a beit midrash (house of learning) for Jewish studying (or otherwise!).

  • I want to run an event, what do I do?

If you want to run an event through an NYU Hillel-affiliated club, reach out to the club board (if you’re on the board, reach out to your staff supervisor). If you want to run an event not through a club, please reach out to Beckie Hamroff (bsh253@nyu.edu), Director of NYU Hillel, and she can help guide you. For standalone programs that may not fit under any club umbrella, you can submit your event idea to the community fund (more information to come).

  • I want to start an NYU Hillel club, what do I do?

Speak to a member of the Hillel team who can guide you through the process of submitting your application to the NYU Student Activities Board (SAB). Please note that not all SAB clubs are NYU Hillel-affiliated, but all NYU Hillel-affiliated clubs must be SAB clubs.
